Parents' guide
Your part on the rug
In the room
Sit beside your child, sing even if you think you can't, and follow your child's lead. If your child wants to watch, watching is joining in.
When your child wanders
Toddlers get up, walk around and come back. Go with them, and sit down again when they do. Nobody is asked to sit still.
At home
Sing the session's songs in the car or at the sink. You don't need an instrument, and you don't need to practice.
Who comes
Parents, grandparents and caregivers are all welcome. Tell us who will bring your child, so we can say hello.
At the rug
A teacher beside the youngest
Teachers kneel down to a child's level, play along on the same instrument, and wait. A child who only listens for the first weeks is learning the songs too.
